I’ve been reluctant to throw away some old rags used in my textile room at school. They’ve been used to clean up after the girls have been dyeing cloth. The reluctance is because of the marvelous colours…. and so today, I found a use… and made another…

And there are more to follow; if you are familiar with my work, you will know that I work in mixed media and paint as well as textile, so I can offer a wide range of technique and process workshops. I am doing a textiles unit through Open Uni this study period. We have an exercise to do where we use stitch to produce a small detailed study of an aspect of our studio/living space. I have started by taking some photos of my studio.

Just a teaser here -- any Texans in sight, please visit our "Unframed" fiber arts exhibit in New Braunfels at the New Braunfels Art League gallery downtown through August 30. Seven fiber artists have presented a gallery full of innovative and interesting work -- art dolls, art cloth, art quilts, wearable art and more. Also, I have a small solo show this month, through Sept. 6, at the Rockport Center for the Arts -- mermaids, beach dreamers, altered jean jackets and more. I'd love to know if…

The piece is made from 100% wool which has been machine felted with inserted beads (at 60 degrees) to create 3-D woollen 'bubbles' (inserted beads are…
