Let the light in...

During this time of conflic, polarized

opinions and scary news, we need to remember how

much light we can bring to others even when the

situation is not perfect, it takes just one kind

word to let the light in...a smile or a hug.

Ring the bells that still can ring.

Forget your perfect offering.

There is a crack in everything.

That's how the light gets in.

--Leonard Cohen

Making art for the sake of soul survival

There’s this really hard work ethic I have
But it’s also a joy for me to make things
It is survival for me

~ Quote from Danny Mansmith ~

This man is one of the most creative folks I have encountered...talk about transformation...scrap becomes a work of art in his hands.

Having a "real job" vs Creativity...organization and blogs.

I have lost count of all the blogs I have...mostly because I have little time to update, but I keep getting "hooked" into joining one more group or blog. Why...who cares...! The opportunity to meet others, to create and to play a little makes me relax from a long day at the office. I am in Real Estate, this is my second year, and I have to say, after a lifetime of being "only an artist and a mom" I can tell the world "I am a Realtor" Ha!

Well...the truth is, I am who I am, here and… Continue

hello everyone. OK, this is my first blog here and as you will all soon see , i am not very good at this writing stuff.

That's mostly due to my dyslexia, but i will plod on anyway.lol

While my art changes in style and i am always trying to improve or have a go at many new mediums/styles, my true love is wet felt making.

Artist's Block?

This summer has been very strange for me - as I have had a wonderful time - but .... I have not been in the studio for 6 months - life without art, well textile art. (Although I have been very creative in our garden).

The thing about having such a long break - is that I almost have to get back to basics again. It is hard to pick up where I left off - I am no longer in the same place creatively, or technically. I couldn't even remember how to thread the sewing machine yesterday - mental… Continue

the final product

Well I finished the studio study sketch - I have some pretty funky hands going on there, but overall I am pleased with the piece. Practice has to start somewhere. The sketch is a bit of a montage of things in my space.

Looking for a workshop...

And there are more to follow; if you are familiar with my work, you will know that I work in mixed media and paint as well as textile, so I can offer a wide range of technique and process workshops. If you don't see it here, why not email me and ask about it, as I specialise in bespoke workshops.

I love working with groups, but limit the size to twelve at the… Continue

Peace and Blessings,

Its that time of year again! October Chicago Artist Month! This will be my 5th year participating! My first year was in 2003 and I exhibited "A Patchwork Presence" at the Longwood United Methodist Church in Beverly, in Chicago. My granddaughter was three years old and had a great time pointing to her "Yeye's" quilts. This year I hope she joins me and my "Sewlar Sisters" at our exhibit on the campus of Chicago State University on… Continue
