About me and my connection to fiber art & mixed media
I am a fiber/mixed media artist. I have 2 studios in my home. One for paper and paint and one for fiber. I work daily on many projects and am very prolific. I am a technic junky and love to read about and try new things. My art is what keeps me alive and vital.
Thank you Susan. I plan on reaching new heights with each project. I just received an embroidery machine, which did not explain how the images go from the computer to the machine yet, and it will yield lots of growth. I'm afraid to touch it, and am mostly working on handwork for the time being. As a disabled vet, cronic pain, this is a good thing. Very relaxing.
Your take on art is great. The Vermeer piece is wonderful. I like your funky chicks and the crazy quilting stuff. You do such a wonderful variety of pieces. I saw the little girl in a magazine. Your pictures do her better justice.
Thank you for the comments. Being in the studio is my preference also. Not today. though. There are so many things to create, and boy the piles of supplies waiting to be used. I really should get busier. Tomorrow.
This site is a boon to me. There are few fiber artists where I live. I have yet to meet any. I see evidence of their works, but apparantly they are few and far between here. The computer, this site, and FAMM are bringing like minds together. Sharing ideas is one fun way to see some variations along the path of creativity. We cannot do it all, so why not share? There is room for one and all in the creativity pool. In this case, I am a pool (water) nymph, lol.
Your works are as eclectic and fun as my own. We just cannot get enough, can we. Do you hand embroider?
I have been very busy with all sorts of other things this year, and have neglected my contacts. I agree with your comments about etsy and other such things. I found that I was spending so much time commenting on other peoples' work and browsing the internet that I was becoming completely overwhelmed and just stopped.
Hi Susan, I used it for the first time today and it was so light that I felt naked. Really worked to take the pressure off my back. Thank you for the comment. Have a wonderful New Year. Blessings, Johoanna
Hi Susan, to answer your question - Pumula is on the lower South Coast of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. It is a beautiful, sub-tropical region and my garden is full of indigenous tress, birds, monkeys and tree-hyrax.
Susan, love your website ;-) LOL
The little fairy is so adorable. I love your work and am so honored, humbled and excited to have had you in class not once, but twice!!!! I can see you are having a load of fun!
Thanks for friend-ing me in FA/MM.
