About me and my connection to fiber art & mixed media
I have just retired and I am starting to spread my wings a bit and doing more creative things. I plan to do more wet wool felting, beading, polymer clay faces, and adding lots of embroidery to my art.

Hi Judy,  Thank you for your nice thoughts.  I've done some classes in wet felting and jewelry making at the local technical college, but haven't done one on needle felting yet.

I work full time and we have our own sheep, so it's hard to find enough time for the things I love!

Your embroidery on your work is beautiful. I'd love to try more stitches to add to some of my pieces. I tend to fall back on a couple of stitches all of the time.

I'm not sure if they offer any fiber classes, but we have vacationed at Land Between the Lakes. It's a national park that starts in Kentucky and goes all the way into Tennessee. They have a settlement homestead in the park that offers many folk art classes throughout the year.  If you google Land Between the Lakes, it should come up.  I've always wanted to take a class there, but we never seem to go at the right time. Our son is still in school so our travel times are limited.

Hope you find something great!

Hi Judy, iI'm glad to read your warm words. I have tough times nowaday , my husband is ill for months and needs my care. Not so much time for me to play with fiber.

I am happy to read the group is ready for some january theme, but one more time, I am not sur I could follow, just have a look to all your beautiful works.

We just hope some good issue will come in spring and we have to healing to mid march...maybe. Keeping fingers crossed.

Fiber arts of all sort are such happy hours when I can create!

Main of my work are on Flick http://www.flickr.com/photos/mchg/

Recent ones are too on my FB page : https://www.facebook.com/fibrefantaisie

Actually I cann't teach, but DIY books are easy to find such as those written by Lexi Boeger, Jacey Boggs + DVD and the new one by Ashley Martineau. Many good videos on YouTube will help you to begin with a drop spindle.I only use a drop spindle, some cheap home made ones, for years. I have adapted the wheel lessons to the drop spindle. Be slow to get the practise, you'll be fast to do.

Bonne chance ! Quand on veut, on peut !

Hi Judy, I will send you an invitation to join, you do not have to take part unless you want to, but you can always drop by to leave comments even if you do not want to get involved. The forum is basically where we hope to discuss the challenges and because it is on a communal blog everyone will put their own work on there and discribe the way they do it. So there will be lots to learn. I have just added my work in progress so do pop by and take a look. It will be good to have you come join us again. Best Wishes Tricia x

Hello Maggie, It has been very rainy and coolish here too. But we've had lots of really nice sunny days too. I have spent about 80% of my free time gardening this year and my gardens look wonderful but sadly little to no stitching and I am sooo missing it. Hugs Judy
