Thanks Janis.  I'm not sure I understand your comment.  The tactile quality of the fibres is lost as soon as I apply the base coat of paint (latex house paint).   I then paint on the designs and colours and the varnish finishes it off, intensifying the colour and so on.  The point of the textiles is to provide textural interest, to allow for the pooling of paint.  I wonder if you thought that these fabrics appear in their original colours?

I love your fiber art but why cover up the tactile quality of the fibers with a varnish, especially the acrylic ones?
