This Botanic Garden Journey sack is evolving. A printmaking teacher I studied with many years ago, talked about "passages". She would block off bits and see what worked best. There are passages in…Continue

Comment by Robbin Neff 9 hours ago Well, instead of creating with fiber, I am laying sod. In this heat and humidity, it's so easy to get sick. It's exhausting. Now for an evening of thread and needle work.

Comment by Mimu Rubin on Tuesday Good work, Robbin. One of these days I'll try my hand at crochet...
Comment by Robbin Neff on Tuesday Today: chemo caps, crotchet phone case, pillows for cancer patients, putting together pillow scraps into something new. Ok, ok. Housework too.
Comment by Robbin Neff on Tuesday I am like you Mimu. Some are experiments (which can be incorporated with other projects later), and some are so fun, I just do them again and again. Through wonderful groups like this, we can broaden our horizons without commiting to sailing over them. This is a covering I am crotcheting for my Android phone, which never fits cell phone covers. The pattern is easy.
Crotchet beginning with an odd number of chains. Single crotchet, beginning in second chain from hook, entire first row. Second row alternates with single crotchet, then extended treble (wrap hook as for treble, pull up thread, only take first stitch under 1 loop, all the rest 2 at a time), ending in single crotchet. The treble is pushed forward.
This is the new thread at Hobby Lobby. It works up beautifully. After trying it, had to go get all they had in stock.
Comment by Mimu Rubin on Tuesday Welcome, Bonnie Cook. We look forward to your work and input.
Comment by Mimu Rubin on Tuesday Robbin, I suppose that we each have our own way of getting to the finish line more often. I find that art challenges can be inspiring and get you to finish and then start anew. Sometimes not finishing for me is that I am experimenting. When I hit on something I want to keep doing, I create finished work resulting from the experiments. Just keep going and going and going.
Comment by Robbin Neff on May 20, 2012 at 2:53pm Mimu, do you think it will help me get to the finish line more often? For all our members, go get 'em! Waitng to finish usually incudes waiting to move to a new city and state, waiting for supplies, waiting for the store to open, and most often, waiting for someone to "play" with.
Comment by Mimu Rubin on May 19, 2012 at 7:26pm Welcome Robbin. I love everything that you are working on. Your " art studio " is wonderful. Thanks for joining.
Comment by Robbin Neff on May 19, 2012 at 3:31pm I have my fingers in numerous pies. I love creating. Here are a couple of things in progress. I promise you, I am working on all of them, even though there are over a hundred.
These are fan blades. I have a long way to go on this piece. Next I begin the embroidery. This is going to be an art quilt. At this point, only the reverse aplique is done. The outer edge of the blades was inspired by tag art.
I make lots of funky shops on mini quilts. Each is embellished with an assortment of beading, embroidery, yo-yos and more. This is "The Art Studio". Another is called "The Fly Zone", and is about fishing. We are packing to move, but there will be more soon.
