This is brown paper bag, wadded, rewadded, and rewadded several times over.  Then it has wax pencil (my collection is Prismacolor) to add the words, and other marks.  Acrylic was added in drybrush, and copper acrylic added last.  Some of the original sketch book skin shows.  It resembles orange skin in texture.  Hope this helps the question about crayons.  It works the same on fabric, but the tighter the weave, more stabilized (even temporarily), adds to the ability to get the wax into the piece.  Most of these are not wash proof.  However, I have always used the same pencils for marking quilting, and drawing patterns on fabric.

So sorry to have sent the email to all.  I am learning the site, and won't do it again.

Has anyone tried melting crayons onto paper? They say you can sew on it. Would appreciate any information

this week's technique is using pastels, which I find much easier to use

Thanks for the great demos!! I have played with some of these techniques too, but it's so nice to get a fresh look at everything.

I am really using so many different embellishment methods and fibres now - this group sounds just about right!!! My wallhangings are taking a severe turn away from "quilted" pieces and into mixed media works. Love it!
