I keep letting "work" get in my way of my play.. hopefully after Open Studios I can get myself playing again. ;)

Hi Susan! Glad the group will go on beyond 2010! I keep finding new techniques I want to try. The biggest problem is just allocating time – including tracking down the materials to work with...

Thanks for your kind comment on my August experiment. I had fun with that little project!

Hey creative friends! I changed the name of the group to just Monthly Experiments, since I feel like this will be an on going process for the years to come!! :)

Hi everybody! I tried a quick experiment in embossing a lace design on quilt batting. I posted it on my blog along with a link to the instructions.

Absolutely, Conni - and thank you for visiting the photo album and giving me your thoughts. This was a monumental achievement - and I'm so glad it's over. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your nice comment, Katherine!
I love the combination of the painted cheesecloth and metal doodads on your bottle. The embossed piece with the olives is perfect!

Beautiful, Conni! As much as I've tried, I haven't been good about posting. Part of my issue has been this stupid commissioned olive oil bottle I've been working on for months (no, I'm not kidding). I really had problems with it - and I feel like I asked everyone on the planet for help/suggestions. Anyway, it's finally finished! I used several new-to-me techniques on it - and wound up having a lot of fun. I just won't be so quick to accept commissions in the future until I've thought about the possible problems. (Many lessons learned!)

Anyway, I'm so thrilled it's finally done - and would love to hear what you guys think. The bottle was eventually named ORTOOB (for One Really Tough Olive Oil Bottle) - and you can see it, and the hand-painted fabric I made for it, here. :)

I did a little art experiment with water-soluble crayons. I've had a nice box of Caran D'ache Neocolor II crayons for a couple of years and am just now realizing how versatile they are - and easy to use. Blogged here.

Wow Conni...has it been that long??? I am going to get back into the experimental boat when I get home from vacation on the 11th. I have been renewed and have a lot of creative energy!

For July's experiment, I tried a fun little embellished Santa doll from an article in Art Doll Quarterly (Nov. Dec. Jan. 2010 issue). More info on my blog.

Susan, as I was adding the beaded fringe to this doll, I was thinking about the wonderful Fiber Collage course I took with you. It occurred to me that was five years ago! Hard to believe, isn't it?
