Here`s a quick little tutorial for a neat beaded necklace. The only item I would add to it is based on experience – for large beads like what the tutorial makes, bake for longer than what she indicates. At least as long as the time on the packaging. Or, to reduce time baked, use foil for the bead cores.

Here’s something I made for Valentine’s Day from a sheet of Styrofoam, some Magikote and paint. Oh and the rosettes are made from paper lunch bags. I’ll show you how here –> Valentine Rosette Heart Door Decoration | Crafts by Amanda.…
How many dried up (probably used once) glue packets have you thrown away? I know I am always doing it so when Gorilla Glue contacted me about their new cap my little non gorilla ears perked up. There is a whole lot of technical stuff but basically its a metal pin that keeps it airtight. (Check out the online video …
So I can officially declare a trend this year: Warm and fuzzy Valentine’s Day treats. They are just impossibly cute. Remember these from yesterday? Look what I spotted today. More impossible cuteness, warm and fuzzy cake balls and cupcakes for Valentine’s. Find the how-tos to make them HERE at Hungry Happenings. I can not stop looking at these. …

I just read the new quarterly fiber arts magazine, Fiber Art Now, and couldn’t wait to tell everyone about it! We’re all aware that the fiber arts community varies wildly, with so many techniques and materials. At the same time, we all derive inspiration and ideas from each other, so a sense of community, like we have built here on FAMM, is invaluable. Fiber Art Now seems to have the same mission.
Here is what you’ll find in this brand-spanking new magazine:
Feature articles The premier issue included in-depth pieces on: contemporary rug hooking; Stitched, the quilting documentary; and an interview with a fabric designer in New York.
Fiber Happenings Looking for a glimpse into recent or upcoming exhibitions and conferences? This is where you’ll find what you’re looking for.
In Their Own Words A first person article, where artists share their own work and talk about process.
Artist Profiles These articles present work by artists that are particularly representative of exciting trends in contemporary fiber arts.
On View Gives the reader a visit to an exhibition in pictures! This one skips the words altogether in favor of a visual experience.
Fibers Online Expand your own resources by finding a new site or organization that has a particularly amazing online presence.
On the Bookshelf Instead of featuring only recently-published titles, Fiber Art Now sees it as its mission to share classics of the canon as well as highlighting a recent release.
Exhibitions & Calls for Entry The name says it all. The Fiber Art Now team has done its research so you don’t have to. It’s all right here.
Caught on Camera Before you close the magazine you’ll find two pages of in-studio shots from one of the featured artists in the issue.
In a recent interview with Marcia Young, publisher and editor, I got the inside skinny on what’s coming up. The January issue will include an in-studio visit and photo essay with shibori dyer and couture designer, Carter Smith; a new look at what can be done with a knitting loom and a dramatic mountainous landscape; a tour of a collector’s home and her lessons for all of us on how (and why) she collects; and a host of other features and ideas.

The Fiber Art Now team also is planning to add two new regular columns in the January issue. The first one, Material Matters, will introduce readers to a unique material and show ways that it’s being used, and in the second one, Recent Acquisitions, you can learn how museums and galleries are building and augmenting their fiber and textile collections.
